The Port Allegany boys and Northern Potter girls made it a clean sweep of the North Tier season, with both unbeaten teams capturing last week’s league meet at Otto-Eldred. Led by Nick Conway’s double in the hurdles – including a new meet (and school) record in the 110 – and a sweep in the high jump, the Gators eased to a 10-point win over second-place Coudersport. Tyce Miller (400), Trevor Neal (high jump), and Camrin Stuckey (javelin) were other individual victors, with Stuckey’s throw of 174-0 tying the 29-year-old NTL mark held by Port’s Ron Andreano. Sheffield’s Kalil Slaughter blazed to a new record in the 100, and added wins in the 200 and 400 relay.
Rebecca Warriner quadrupled (100, 200, 400, 1600 relay), Taryn Bennett tripled (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 1600 relay), and Clarissa Knauer broke the meet record in the discus to lead the NoPo girls to a comfortable 144-98 margin over runner-up Port Allegany. The Gators’ 400-meter relay team of Bryanna Evens, Brianna Foster, Kelsey Payne, and Sara Borro tuned up for Friday’s upcoming District IX meet with a win, and Payne (triple jump) and Renee Edgell (shot put) added individual league titles.
